W. Karl Steele painted the country he loved — its creeks and autumn hills, weathered barns, and quiet coastlines. He was also a pioneer of gospel chalk art, the first to draw in black light before a live audience.
In the Care of His Family
Many of these paintings have stayed with the family — cared for over the years by his daughter, Carolyn Streeter, and his granddaughters, Loril Garrett and Sheri Holman, who have kept safe not only the work itself but the memories and stories behind each one.
